Why Does TDMG Invest in stocks and other assets?
We understand the significant challenges small media enterprises and newsrooms face, and there are a few reasons why we have decided to allocate capital here. Our main reason is to diversify our revenue streams from advertising, membership and product sales as we don’t bring in enough from those sources to sustain our operation in the short term. The returns from the market also funds future growth and expansion. This funding model is similar to how scholarships and association trusts work and we’ve adjusted this idea to suit our needs.
At our current size, TDMG allocates excess cash and revenue in ways that are utilized, and provides greater returns than through more traditional methods.
Do These Positions Impact Your Editorial?
No, our reporting is not impacted by the financial interests disclosed here. TDMG adheres to a strict separation of our business and editorial components. When stories may be substantially connected or potential impact the positions we hold, we strive to make active disclosures in our reporting, and go through a stringent process to ensure the content we provide does not inadvertently benefit us.
